I know, many people try to avoid Shinjuku by a mile, it’s just too busy and too loud, isn’t it? To be honest, it took me some time to warm up to it. For me too it was just a bit too noisy and to find a nice, chilled Cafe has been a little bit of a challenge. But the good news is, I just discovered one you definitely want to visit, it’s called Coto Cafe!

On the far side of Shinjuku, bordering Okubo and a short walk to Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden is this stylish Cafe on the 2nd floor. You enter and immediately feel comfortable! The Staff welcomed us like we were regulars and we got nice seats. The Layout is generous, so although it was full, it did not feel crowded…

As expected the service was incredibly friendly and the English/Japanese barrier was soon broken. The menu is only in Japanese, that might be a turn off for some. But if you give it a go you will soon realize this is a lovely place to hang out.

We went for lunch and had the daily plates coming in at 900Yen-1200Yen. They consisted of a generous serving of salad with a main of your choice (such as green curry, daily special, soup and bread..). And as a treat, they also have Instagram worthy cakes on the Menu. Just check out their Instagram account, they do cute latte art too. ????

This time though, I skipped the fancy Coffee, as with the lunch set including a drink I was pretty full already. But isn’t it a good excuse to go back?
