Soup Curry ZORA is a curry restaurant only a few minutes walk from Odori Park and trendy Susukino. And although soup curry is their main, they also have a variety of other tasty curries.

It’s a big enough shop with both counter seats and tables. Now, the menu is in Japanese, but it does show pictures of their recommended dishes. So even if you don’t speak Japanese this is manageable.

The only thing you need to know is how to order, as with soup curry this is a little different. Once you choose your dish, let them know what size rice you would like, as well as how spicy you want your curry. This too can be done by pointing at the size/number. I love this because even if you don’t generally like spicy food, you still get to enjoy this local dish. Soup Curry ZORA has a scale from 1-6. As I love spicy food I went for 4, which was not crazy spicy, just about right.

I ordered a cheese Mochi and bacon soup curry. For 1170¥. Which came with plenty of vegetables just what I needed. Pumpkin, Zucchini, Carrot, Okra, Renkon, were all there. Really the perfect dish for a cold day.

They also do a special mutton curry version, if you get this one I recommend adding the cheese mochi as a topping. As that was my absolute favorite. I am sure you will love this smooth, cheesy “dumpling” too!
