Tokyo Dòujiāng Life is a Taiwanese restaurant in Gotanda, a neighborhood on the Yamanote line, and it is another hidden gem! Probably the best Taiwanese breakfast restaurant in Tokyo.
It’s actually so popular than many things sell out quickly, so if you want to get the full experience come early!
Unfortunately, we did not know this. Although arriving at 11 am, what we thought was early, we were told that all the pastries had sold out. To be honest we could not hide our disappointment, as the “flatbread with egg” and “the fried crispy donuts (燒餅油條)” were what we came here for. After checking, we heard they often sell out, from as early as 10 am. We guess people get them to take out on their way to work…
So what did we get? We ordered the salty soy milk (鹹豆漿) for 450¥ and two of the drinks; the basic Soymilk for 260¥ and the sesame version for 380¥. Now if you do not like soy milk, this is not for you. It might remind you of bland hospital food. Sorry. But if you do like it, it’s rather enjoyable, especially the sesame one! Also, the salty soy milk was tasty and the different textures, as well as the drops of chilly oil, really brought it together.
Tokyo Dòujiāng Life is definitely a great breakfast spot in Tokyo and a must-try if you are looking for a Taiwanese Restaurant. They open from 8 am, so why not get there early for a healthy breakfast!
