If you do one thing this long weekend, then you must visit the Tokyo Ramen Show, showcasing the best ramen in all of Japan! Again this year the show takes place in Olympic Park for a few weeks this November in Tokyo!
As you may know, we love Ramen and especially when the weather is getting colder we feel this is the perfect comfort food! But Ramen is not just Ramen. With every prefecture having their specialty and every Ramen shop a unique recipe, the Tokyo ramen show is really the place to discover all that Ramen can be. So it is a must to check out until it closes on the 4th on November. As you get the chance to try them all!
And it’s a bit of a challenge because at the Tokyo Ramen Show, showcasing the best Ramen in all of Japan really means there is too many to choose from. And all competing. for your attention. Hokkaido Soup Ramen ramen and Thick Miso Ramen from Kanazawa to name just two of them.
How to get here
Take the “Tōkyū Den-en-toshi Line” from Shibuya and get off Komazawa-Daigaku Station. From there it is about a 5-10min walk is to the Tokyo Ramen Show. It is pretty straight forward. Get out from the East Exit and turn left and take the first left again, cross the street and soon you will see a path going off to the Olympic Park. From there walk for a minute and you will start seeing football fields and a tower, follow them and here we are!
How to navigate the Tokyo Ramen Show?
Go get tickets first. 1 ticket costs you 880¥ and we recommend getting at least 2, as otherwise, you have to come back.
Then grab a program on the way in, so you can check out all the stalls and off you go! There are 14 ramen shops and you can tell by the queue in front of each, which one to pick. The wait is not too bad, even if there is a line. Once you get to the front of the queue, hand over your ticket and let them know if you want any extra toppings. Every stall will offer soft boiled egg for an extra 100¥ (you pay in cash) and some also offer extra meat, you will see the posters at each shop for more information.
And yes we ate a few and it’s hard to make a choice, to be honest. We recommend to get the Hokkaido Soup Ramen (14) and the light duck ramen (13) is a great choice in between if you are trying a few.
Now we need to warn you, the portions are on the big side. We guess that’s just what ramen is. A generous offering that makes you feel good from the inside.
Our special tip!
Share with friends! Come in a group and share is probably the best way to do it. Get some smaller plates to divide the portion, that way you can try more ramen without opening that top button.
If you are by yourself, 2 portions are manageable, 3 might be pushing it and more, well, you really are on your own ????
We recommend to come late afternoon, 5-6 pm to get the most out of it. There is ample seating and also a stage with some entertainment. They close around 9 pm, with last order around 8.40 pm, but if you are still hungry for more check out our best ramen in japan special!
