Fam Fam Spice & Cafe is another unexpected great find! It’s well hidden away in Shibuya, as most cool places are.
It is located in a building complex. Where the shops in it, created this green festival-like space. Including fairy light, plants, a lot of wood – very inviting. Upstairs is Fam Fam spice & cafe and it’s pretty cool. All kept in dark wood, decorated like someone’s living room, think New York warehouse loft, with steel beams dividing the room and leather sofas.
Now the food menu is in Japanese, if you can read hiragana you should be able to guess your way around. If that’s an issue, the drink menu (coffee etc) is in English. So maybe ease yourself in with a Coffee or drink and then see how you go?
We were adventurous and ordered the signature chicken 9 spice curry and it was delicious! To be honest, the portion was not huge, so if your starving you will need to order something else along with it. But the taste was great! Though, even using our very trained CSI tastebuds we could not identify the 9 spices. But that almost made it better…
It came in at 860¥ so it’s still not too bad. But we noticed they do a pretty good lunch deal for 1000¥. Where you get to choose a curry, small side, drink, and dessert!! You can get it until 3 pm. Also, you can bring your own wine with a corkage of ¥3000, something we don’t see often…
