Hinadori Yakitori “ひなどり” is one of our local hunts. A very very local izakaya a little off the beaten track near Shinjuku/Okubo. Chances are you would never find it, but it’s totally worth going!
The beauty of this place? Well, we love the mix, there are the grandmas and grandpas, the salaryman the younger crowd and the odd foreigner. It’s a nice vibe, relaxed and you can really feel the neighborhood community here. It’s also open late, so a nice place to go for a last bite or pint. And if that was not already reason enough, they wrap things in bacon!!!! Yes, they got all kinds of vegetables and they wrap them I bacon before grilling, just so delicious! It almost feels healthy ????
Furthermore ist cheap, we never paid more than ¥2000 per person and that would be including 2 beers. Each yakitori would be between ¥100-¥200 and other snacks around ¥300. So mix and match your dream menu and see those tasty treats arrive one by one at your table shortly after.
We love to come here with friends, but its also one of these places you can easily pop in by yourself. They have counter seats and tables of 4, it’s a bit on the narrow side, but that makes part of the charm. They also do have an English menu so nothing to worry about. Just come check it out and enjoy the local atmosphere.
