When we read that Egg Cafe was doing creme brûlée pancakes it pretty much moved to the top of our “place to eat” list!

Now, this is a bit outside of Tokyo, just to warn you. It might be too far for some, but the food was really great and the queue outside was proof of that! So if you are looking for one of those rare breakfast spots that are truly great, this is it!

It’s famous, guess what, for their fluffy creme brûlée pancakes. A bit of a mix between a soufflé and a pancake. With the cream oozing out once you cut into it… ..just sooo good!

So yes, we ordered one of them! And also the eggs Benedict and the Omurice, those too, were exceptional and came in at ¥850 each. Not too bad isn’t it? Actually, all the prices for breakfast items are around ¥800, which is pretty good value we think. To be honest, we were too excited to take pictures of the Menu, but luckily you can find it online here. Just scroll down a bit, it’s almost at the bottom of their page.

The portion sizes are pretty big, so be careful about how many dishes you order. Being in Japan, we have gotten into a habit of always getting a few things and share. But this is more western style, even to the point, we started to feel like we just traveled and were brunching in a trendy cafe in Europe.

Will it be a place we will go once a week? Probably not, as with the travel. But with Tokyo still lacking a bit behind the brunch front, this really is a hidden gem and well worth going at least once or as a special occasion treat!
